"Edgier than even the most obscure..."

                                              - Stage Whispers

CARMEN LIVE OR DEAD is the fascinating and extraordinary story of Carmen Frida Leon Davidovich, the fictional love child of Frida Kahlo and Leon Trotsky. It is an exciting, edgy and wildly entertaining story of identity and survival. CARMEN LIVE OR DEAD was written by New York based writer Craig Harwood for one of Australia's most diverse and exciting theatre and cabaret actors - Natalie Gamsu. Directed by Shaun Rennie, the show featured original music by esteemed composer - iOTA, with musical arrangements by Stefanie Jones and Andrew Kroenert.

Produced and developed by the Oriel Entertainment Group, CARMEN LIVE OR DEAD underwent a development workshop and performance run at one of Melbourne's most famous cabaret institutions - The Butterfly Club, followed by a second stage development in New York. The official world premiere production took place at The Hayes Theatre in Sydney in 2018, after which it transferred to the prestigious Adelaide Cabaret Festival to rave reviews.
